My luck. It turns out that the exact time and date of my reading coincides with a free book reading by Colson Whitehead, four blocks away at the Wolf Humanities Center of University of Pennsylvania. I can just imagine a whole crowd of people making the hard choice between attending a book reading by Colson Whitehead, National Book Award Winner, and Bonnie Rozanski, Complete Unknown.
In fact, I’m such a complete schlemazel that I took out an ad in the Penn Gazette but didn’t have enough lead-time to do it under the events section. I had to put it under Classified. But, hey, maybe that’s a good thing. I may get the random onlooker who was in need of a small refrigerator.
